Congratulations
Florida has organized a state-wide black chamber of commerce.
What this means is what?
This means an organized advocacy on the state level for business resources targeting black chambers and entrepreneurs around the state of Florida.
When did this start?
It was launched on February 1st , 2022, during the first Black Chamber Day at the capital. There are plans to have an annual Black Chamber Day, to advocate for Black business.
At the press conference, the Founder of the Florida Association of Black Chamber of Commerce, Shaheewa Jarrett Gelin, shared, “We are here to advocate for state policies and laws that will remove barriers for our local businesses and unlock resources that will create ecosystems for our businesses to thrive.”
Participating Chambers Included:
- African-American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida
- Big Bend Minority Chamber of Commerce of Florida
- Black Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach
- Broward County Black Chamber of Commerce
- Capital City Chamber of Commerce
- Greater First Coast Chamber of Commerce
- Gulf Coast Minority Chamber of Commerce
- Jacksonville Black Chamber of Commerce
- Manasota Black Chamber of Commerce
- Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce
- Treasure Coast Black Chamber of Commerce
- South Florida Black Chamber
Mrs. Gelin said “By supporting small, black businesses, we can create jobs and a stronger economy for all Floridians. Our communities are tied to the progression and success of this state.”
This is so true as Black owned business has always been the strength in the Black community. Its how families will be stronger, communities more stable and able to successfully grow. Our youth will have clear examples of how to become business leader in the community. This is a great win for all of America.
